Girlfriend's Guide to NYC

New York is such a versatile city! Depending on the time of year, who you're traveling with and what your interests are, each trip to the big apple can be vastly different! I've been to the city several times, but my #girlstrip was by far my favorite!! Every girl should take a trip with their bestie(s) at some point and NYC is the perfect destination!

We arrived in NYC the Friday morning of Labor Day Weekend. Now, you'll quickly learn that all the locals head out of the city this last "weekend" of the summer and into The Hamptons. {Which Gossip Girl lovers would also know -- XOXO GG} However, this was perfect for us for several reasons.

AirBnBs were super easy to find and very reasonable. We stayed at THE CUTEST one bedroom in Chelsea, NY. Hilary's apartment was walking distance to The Chelsea Market, The High Line, and several cutie restaurants and bars. Book a stay at Hilary's place for your next trip here!

Being such foodies, my bestie and I knew we could spend hours inside the market. With everything from boutique shopping to flea market style, you can find just about anything here! It's also loaded with some awesome restaurants, bars and even a liquor store, The Chelsea Wine Vault. The Market reminds me of a mix of Ponce City Market and Pike Place Market in Seattle! {SEA Travel Guide - HERE!!}

The High Line is New York's version of the Atlanta Beltline {designed by the same guy with a very similar look & feel!} About a mile and half long, you'll see people strolling to enjoy the scenery and lounging on the benches overlooking the water. The path, which was built on an old railway, is elevated above the city streets. We spent a few hours up here walking around and then sipped on our bottle of #BABEROSÉ we picked up inside the market.

Citi Bikes

One way to navigate through NYC is by renting Citi Bikes. We hopped on near Times Square and rode the entire length of Central Park before stopping at our next destination. The best part is that they are super cheap and you can drop them off at locations all across the city. We paid for a day pass to get around the city and even rode them to breakfast the next day back in Chelsea! If you're ever in the neighborhood, check out BEC {Bacon Egg Cheese} for an awesome breakfast and coffee.

After riding the bikes around town all day, we decided to hop off and take a tour through the United States' largest museum, The Met. We stopped for a quick pic on the steps, also very Gossip Girl esque, before going inside to explore. One really great part about this museum is that the entry fees are based off of donations, so technically you can give any dollar amount to get in.

While the art in the museum was amazing, we were ready for a cocktail and quickly took the elevator to the rooftop bar. The view from the top has an amazing panoramic view of the skyline and the drinks were super tasty!

Food & Drinks

My bestie and I did our fair share of foodie research before arriving to the city. New York is thriving with phenomenal restaurants so picking a handful to enjoy while we were in town was tough. We had a Lox Bagel at the famous Murry's Bagels as well as endless amounts of red wine and Italian food at Aria Wine Bar!

Our next stop was hitting some of the local bars. I'll be honest - I am unsure of 90% of the names of the bars we went to, but we just kind of hopped around having a drink or two at each place before leaving for the next one! However, our hot spots were all the rooftop bars the city has to offer. Public Hotels has an incredible rooftop & indoor scene you have to check out if you're in NYC!

If you know me, you know that I am a huge tennis fan and that my biggest bucket list item is to attend all four majors {Wimbledon, The French Open, The US Open and The Australian Open}!

Flushing Meadows Park, located in New York City, is a must-go if you're in town over Labor Day Weekend.

The Honey Deuce is the signature drink of the open and is naturally, overpriced like any cocktail in a sporting event, but definitely worth it! I like to try all the unique traditions at each major to get the full experience! Right now I've knocked off 3 of 4 tournaments and looking to make Australia 2020 happen!!

Chicago: The Musical

Lastly, would a NYC girls trip be complete without seeing a musical on Broadway?! No. We got tickets last minute for $100 each about 3 rows back and LOVED every minute of it! Having seen the movie many, many times, I couldn't have imaged it any better! The music, acting and dancing were all spectacular and I would highly suggest to anyone, especially a group of girls, to check it out! This was our ultimate girls trip-chick-flick-finale before heading back to ATL the next morning!

There are so many things we didn't get to do on this trip, but that just means another trip for another time!! Safe travels!
