Sautéed Green Beans

I love some carbs on Thanksgiving, but I also like to add a bit of greenery to the table. Green beans are an easy addition to any turkey and don't take many ingredients to make a delicious side dish! You'll need:

- French Green Beans

- 1 large onion

- 2 tbsp of bacon grease

- 1 tbsp of olive oil

- salt & pepper to taste

This recipe pairs well with my Broccoli Salad recipe, which also gives you the bacon grease. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the 2 tbsp of bacon grease and 1 tbsp of olive oil. Add the onion and a pinch of salt & pepper and sauté the onions for a few minutes before adding the green beans. If you're using French green beans (my personal fav), don't worry about snapping or cutting the ends off of each bean. If you can't find French green beans regular will work fine, but I'd remove the tips. French Green Beans are a little skinnier and cook in about half the time as regular.

Reduce the heat and add the beans to the skillet with another pinch of S&P. Sauté until beans are tender, stirring occasionally so the onions don't burn. Remove from heat and serve - Enjoy!
