Guide to Seattle

Washington is an incredible state! There are so many things to do and see that it's hard to get everything done in a single trip! For starters, if you're anything like me and my bestie, you could spend a whole week exploring the ins and outs of Pike Place Market. This trip we only spent about 24 hours in Seattle before heading to Wenatchee, so this post is really more of a Guide to Pike Place Market!

Pike Place Market

We spent a majority of the first day solely at the market eating, drinking Starbucks at the original location and shopping!

There are hundreds of bays and markets selling fresh fruits and veggies, gorgeous bouquets of flowers and TONS of fresh fish. One thing Pike Place is known for is the Fishmongers throwing and packing the fresh caught fish on ice.

After catching the first flight out, arriving in Seattle, checking into the hotel and walking around all the food in Pike Place, it was time for some lunch! Hidden in a small side alley across from all the noise in the market is Pike Place Chowder. The line is usually wrapped around the building and can take about 45 minutes to get through. {Quick Tip: if you're in a time crunch and want to experience all the glory that is their famous chowder, use their website to place a mobile order and pick up at the counter in less than 5 minutes.}

All the #PikePlaceChower menu items look to die for but the Seafood Bisque and Classic Clam Chowder were our picks! The lobster rolls also look fabulous but we kept on moving! The chowder and mobile orders was so easy and delicious, we even went back the next day for another little bite!

With such a heavy meal and an adjustment to the time change, we were in need of some caffeine. Next stop: COFFEE!

The Original Starbucks

If you're a Starbucks fan, there is one thing you've probably noticed: their coffee taste the same - no matter where you go! While shopping around we had to test out the original and pick up some OG merchandise. The line here is also a wrap around the corner situation, but a great opportunity to pick up some gifts for any coffee lover in your life!

The Gum Wall

I'm not really sure why or how this became a thing, but it was actually pretty cool! Tucked away in an alley below Pike Place Market is a wall FULL of bubble gum. In a gross way, it's kind of like throwing a coin into a fountain, and hey I'm not passing up any superstitious opportunities to make a wish!

After getting our energy back up, we decided to pop into Rachel's Ginger Beer to grab a drink, because... why not? We saw it while eating our chowder and decided we had to come back by for cocktail! RGB makes several different kinds of fresh ginger beer served on tap, and with alcohol - does it get any better? Hello fresh Moscow Mules!

After some drinks we decided to head back to our hotel and get ready for the night! We had dinner reservations at Heartwood Provisions but wanted to first grab a drink at The Nest, a rooftop bar we heard had a waterfront view of the city and the pier.

Before heading east to Wenatchee, where our family friends live and own a winery, we grabbed this beautiful bunch of flowers! With such a rainy city, there is no shortage of pretty peonies! Stay Tuned for a separate blog post on Wenatchee & Leavenworth: Coming Soon!
